My greatest fear is the fear of paralysis. I don't know why this scares me so much but I just can't stand the thought of not being able to move and not being able to do anything about it. This might be related to my need to be in control of my own life.

the ides of march

The ides of march signifies the fifteenth of march. This is the day on which Julius Cesar was killed by members of the roman senate. I think that if Cesar had not been killed the roman empire would probably have taken over the whole of the world. As a result of the world being under one rule I think that scientific progress would be severely delayed due to lack of competition between scientists of different nations.

destruction

I think that the reason that kids are atracted to destruction is that they want to see what happens. The fact that they have the power to do it is reason enough. Also it's a power trip.

children rule the world

I think if children were in charge they would boss everybody around for awile. After a while though I think it would become either a complete democracy or a complete anarchy. I think this would happen because the children in charge would realize that their subjects have no respect for thier rule so they would either let the people rule or just give up.

if animals could talk

I think that if animals could talk they would cuss us out for disturbing the natural order. I think it would be cool to be able to talk to animals. I think that they would have a lot of interesting things to say. i also think that they would have lots of good ideas about how the world should be run.

space living

I think that if everyone lived in space the main difference would be our houses and comunities. I think that the most logical way to live would to have groups of pods conected by tubes all orbiting which ever planet they wanted. As for energy it would all be solar. Food would be grown in greenhouse like domes. There would be enough plants growing to produce suficient oxegen.

best advice

I think that the bast advice I've ever gotten is be true to your self. This advice changed my life. When i was in elementary and middle school I had a tight group of friends. In elementary school it was fine but in middle school i started realizing that none of them respected me at all or listend to my ideas. After hearing this advise I realized that part of the problem was that I wasn't being myself.

vandalism

1. setting fire to a school
I think that this is the worst because it has the highest potential for lose of lives.

2. Throwing stones onto a railway line
This one is also bad because it could derail the train.

3. painting graffiti on a public building
Graffiti i think is also pretty bad but for a different reason. It is bad because it stamps an image onto the place that it is put onto.

4. breaking a park bench
Breaking a park bench is just stupid, I mean there's no point to it. Also it costs the state money that they could be spending on something important.

5. breaking glass in a bus shelter
This is also stupid for the same reason as the bench one.

6. throwing eggs at cars and homes
I think that egging isn't that bad. the reason i have a problem with it is because it effects people directly.

7. damaging a phone box
Damaging a phone box is stupid cause people use them allot.

8. breaking street lighting
I think that breaking street lighting is pretty bad cause it is needed for people to travel at night safely.

9. damaging seats on buses
This is bad cause lots of people use the bus.

10. leaving litter in the countryside
This is verry bad, but i put it lower than the others because it doesn't effect as many people.

11. Putting dish soap into a fountain
I think that this isn't that bad cause it kinda looks cool.

US imperialism

I think that to some degree the US is imperialistic. However based on a text book definition of imperialism the US is not immperalistic because it is not the official policy of the country to take land rom other countries. I think that what makes the U.S imperialistic is its overwhelming military presence in foreign countries.

when i die

when i die i want to be remembered as someone who did something to help change the world. i want to be remembered as someone who didn't sit back and watch the world go to hell. i want to be remembered for what i did, not what i should have done. i want people to look back at me and remember someone who was fair and just. thats how i want to be remembered.

rites of passage

I have experienced many rites of passage, both my own and others. I think the first Major rite of passage anyone experiences is there first day of fist grade. This is a big one because it's the first time that you spend all day away from your parents. The next big one I think would be learning how to read and write. This is one because it opens up a whole new realm of possibilities. The next would be entering high school. This is huge because high school is when your friends become the most important, and you start to drift away from your parents. The next rite of passage that I am looking forward to is my eighteenth birth-day. This is because I will no longer have to depend on my parents.

censorship of the arts

I think that censorship is important because there are things that kid don't need to see or will even scar them emotionally. I do however think that art should be judged separately. even though art sometimes contains nudity or violence it is different from porn or violent video games because in art the nudity and violence is used to portray a deeper message whereas in porn and video games the nudity and violence is the point. I think that children should not be exposed to the message that violence and sex are all there is to life.

parental consent for abortions

I do not think that parental consent should be required. I think this because even if the patients relationship with there parents is not abusive it can become abusive if the parents have strong enough feelings about abortion. Also if the parents have strong feelings in opposition to abortion they might ignore a situation where an abortion is necessary, such as if a 12 year old was pregnant. This could result in the the death of the patient and her unborn but fully developed child.

marijuana legalization

I think that marijuana should be legal. It is no worse than alcohol or tobacco. The number of violent crimes related to pot are way less than alcohol or cocaine. Also almost zero people die from overdosing on pot or accidents related to it. Marijuana also has many medicinal benefits.

Genetically Modified Children

I would never have my children genetically modified. I think that people should be able to decide everything about themselves for themselves. I do however think that genetic modifications should be used to prevent genetic disorders.

hate

I do not hate. I feel that hate only brings about more hate. When people carry hate around inside of them it creates a destructive atmosphere within them and around them.

what i love

This is a hard blog for me. Not because I can't think of anything but because of the simple fact that I love everything and everyone. Some might call this belief naive, but I have found that by always starting out by loving people It makes it a lot easier to find a reason to continue to love them. The fact that I love everyone does not however mean that I ignore their flaws. I believe that peoples flaws are part of  who they are, I also think that peoples issues are theirs to work out. So I guess the thing that I love most is love because I think love is the solution to all the worlds problems.

identical twins

I think that the rich twin would possibly be popular, he/she would probably be better educated and have a more healthy diet. I think that the poor twin would probably have better street smarts, he/she would probably be much more independent than the other twin who doesn't need to work to get ahead. Also I think that the poor twin would have a bad diet because he/she wouldn't be as well educated.

values

An object that I value is my CD player. I value it because it brings me joy and happiness.  When I listen to music it calms me down.

I value my friends from my youth group because that is were all of my closest friends are. My youth group is like a second home to me, in some ways it's more of a home than my house. At youth group i can be me completely and not be criticized at all.

I value the idea that everyone is equal.

the three r's

Respect
I think that respect means that that every one is considerate of everyone else's opinions.

Responsibility

I think that responsibility in the classroom means that you clean up after your self and pay attention.

Reality

The statement means that you will miss out on education if you are not respectful and responsible.

Plant and Animal Cells

EUKARYOTIC vs. PROKARYOTIC CELLS
prokaryotic and eukaryotic cells have many differences. the most noticeable of these differences is that eukaryotic cells are much larger than prokaryotic cells. this may be the most noticeable difference but the most important differanc e is that prokaryotic cells lack a nucleus and organelles.

3 major differences between plant and animal cells.
1. Plant cells have cell walls
2. plant cells make there own energy whereas animal cells absorb nutrients from things that the organism eats.
3.Plants cells have one large vacuole. While animal cells may have one or more small vacuoles

Shelburg falls

I thought that shelburg falls was really fun. It was cool being able to see the snow and going on a hike. I never knew that there was another falls by silver falls.

advertising

I think that advertising is ok. It is important for businesses to be able to show there product off to potential buyers. I do think however that big businesses have to much hold on the advertising industry. I think that small businesses should have more opportunity to advertise.

salmon tale

It was a cool morning and the eggs were just starting to hatch. 7,000 salmon would be born that day. Most would die before even reaching the ocean and only two would ever make it back home. This story will follow one salmon jimmy on his quest for the open ocean.Jimmy had always been less popular than all the other salmon, his brother Charles on the other hand was the most popular fish around and was the fastest swimmer anyone knew. This didn't bother jimmy much, after all he did have thousands of other brothers and sisters. They had been swimming for months, no one really knew where they were going but they all knew that they had to keep going. Jimmy had a fascination with the land and land animal. This fascination probably is what led to his friendship with rocky the raccoon. Rocky, like jimmy was an underdog, he had always been unable to catch bigger fish so he had always gone for smaller ones. This is how he met jimmy. One day rocky had been looking for crawfish when he had seen a group of young salmon. it was a little early for salmon to be in that part of the river but rocky welcomed the chance to eat something other than crawfish and garbage. Just as rocky was about to get into the water an especially small salmon swam right up to the shore. Normally rocky would have snatched up the young fish but he was struck by this salmon’s odd behavior. Jimmy, oblivious to the fact that raccoons ate fish stuck his head out of the water and said “hi I'm jimmy who are you”. Needless to say rocky was shocked, not only was he surprised that the fish had approached him but he didn't even know fish could talk. “Um I'm rocky”.“Hi are you a bear?” asked jimmy.“No I'm a raccoon. What, haven't you ever seen a raccoon before?” asked rocky. Jimmy shook his head. Rocky was aghast, he had never met another animal that didn't know what a raccoon was. Jimmy and rocky went on to become best friends. They both were teased for this friendship but they were the only ones who understood each other so they stayed friends despite being teased. As it turned out there were many advantages to having a raccoon as a best friend. For instance whenever jimmy wanted another fish to “disappear” all he had to do was ask and the problem would be solved and rocky would get a meal.
One time Jimmie and the other fish were swimming along towards there unknown goal and they came across a huge gray barrier. Jimmie thought that they had hit a dead end. Jimmie saw Charles and some of the other larger salmon going over to the side of the river were the shore met the barrier. At first Jimmie didn’t see what Charles was looking at, but as he got closer he noticed that there was a series of water falls going up to the other side of the barrier. He looked around on the shore for rocky, he saw him not to far away eating some food. Jimmie stuck his head out of the water. “What is that thing rocky?” he asked.
“It’s a dam and a fish ladder. You have to climb up it to get to the other side of the dam” Replied rocky.
“what, I have to climb that thing?”. Asked Jimmie exasperated. He knew that there was no way that he could climb that thing himself.
“I can’t do it.” Said Jimmie.

“yeah you can, just give it a try.” Said rocky
“ok I’ll give it a try.” Said Jimmie. He turned around to see that most of the other Parr had already begun their ascent to the other side of the fish ladder. Jimmie took one look back at rocky and knew what he had to do he charged as fast as he could at the first fall, he leapt out of the water struggling with all his might. He made it past the first one. He started to charge for the next one but realized he didn’t have very much room, he started to panic but he knew he had to do it so he went on Jimmie struggled but he made it to the other side.

It was a while after Jimmie had gotten past the dam, he was already in the Smolt stage of his life. Him and the rest of the salmon who had made it past the dam could tell that they were getting closer. There were hardly any others left, between fisherman and other natural predators they had been picked off one by one. Jimmie began to wonder where they were going; he figured that it must be someplace pretty special for them to have come so far. It was two days later that he realized just how amazing it was. They had come around a bend in the river and all of a sudden the water started getting kind of murky and it tasted different he went over to the shore to ask rocky what was going on.
“ What’s with the water?” Jimmie asked.
“ Its getting saltier because your near the ocean.” Said rocky looking kind of sad.
“ Oh” said Jimmie. He remembered rocky saying something about it.
“What’s wrong he asked now noticing that rocky was looking sad.
“ Don’t you realize that I’ll never be able to see you again.” Said rocky
“What do you mean?”
“If you go out to sea than we won’t be able to hang out.”
“Oh I never realized, well I guess that I’ll have to stay here” said Jimmie knowing that it wasn’t an option.
“You know you can’t do that.”
“Yay, I know.”
“well you had better get going” said rocky
“yay, ok bye.” They took one last glance at each other and Jimmie left for the great blue expanse that would be his temporary home.

housewives paid?

I do not think that housewives should be paid. If someone can't handle raising their children and working than they can choose to stay at home. In choosing to stay at home they know that they will not get paid and that they are trading their income for the ability to spend more time with their children. Neither of my parents stayed home with me and I turned out fine so I don't think that people should be offered an incentive to do something that while is desired is not needed. However i do think that parents should be paid if they are home-schooling their children or if their children have a severe mental of physical disability.

white christmas

I think that dreaming of a white Christmas is ok, snow is fun. There are some risks that come with having a lot of snow but some snow is good. Snow is different than all the other weather and it provides a break from regular weather.  During the holidays snow is kind of a reminder of the holiday spirit.

teaching creationism

I think that teaching creationism as a science is wrong. I think creationism is religion and therefore should be kept separate from science. However, I do not think that it should be completely excluded from the school system. Creationism should be offered as an elective class and should not be taught as a science.
