rites of passage

I have experienced many rites of passage, both my own and others. I think the first Major rite of passage anyone experiences is there first day of fist grade. This is a big one because it's the first time that you spend all day away from your parents. The next big one I think would be learning how to read and write. This is one because it opens up a whole new realm of possibilities. The next would be entering high school. This is huge because high school is when your friends become the most important, and you start to drift away from your parents. The next rite of passage that I am looking forward to is my eighteenth birth-day. This is because I will no longer have to depend on my parents.

censorship of the arts

I think that censorship is important because there are things that kid don't need to see or will even scar them emotionally. I do however think that art should be judged separately. even though art sometimes contains nudity or violence it is different from porn or violent video games because in art the nudity and violence is used to portray a deeper message whereas in porn and video games the nudity and violence is the point. I think that children should not be exposed to the message that violence and sex are all there is to life.

parental consent for abortions

I do not think that parental consent should be required. I think this because even if the patients relationship with there parents is not abusive it can become abusive if the parents have strong enough feelings about abortion. Also if the parents have strong feelings in opposition to abortion they might ignore a situation where an abortion is necessary, such as if a 12 year old was pregnant. This could result in the the death of the patient and her unborn but fully developed child.

marijuana legalization

I think that marijuana should be legal. It is no worse than alcohol or tobacco. The number of violent crimes related to pot are way less than alcohol or cocaine. Also almost zero people die from overdosing on pot or accidents related to it. Marijuana also has many medicinal benefits.

Genetically Modified Children

I would never have my children genetically modified. I think that people should be able to decide everything about themselves for themselves. I do however think that genetic modifications should be used to prevent genetic disorders.

hate

I do not hate. I feel that hate only brings about more hate. When people carry hate around inside of them it creates a destructive atmosphere within them and around them.

what i love

This is a hard blog for me. Not because I can't think of anything but because of the simple fact that I love everything and everyone. Some might call this belief naive, but I have found that by always starting out by loving people It makes it a lot easier to find a reason to continue to love them. The fact that I love everyone does not however mean that I ignore their flaws. I believe that peoples flaws are part of  who they are, I also think that peoples issues are theirs to work out. So I guess the thing that I love most is love because I think love is the solution to all the worlds problems.

identical twins

I think that the rich twin would possibly be popular, he/she would probably be better educated and have a more healthy diet. I think that the poor twin would probably have better street smarts, he/she would probably be much more independent than the other twin who doesn't need to work to get ahead. Also I think that the poor twin would have a bad diet because he/she wouldn't be as well educated.

values

An object that I value is my CD player. I value it because it brings me joy and happiness.  When I listen to music it calms me down.

I value my friends from my youth group because that is were all of my closest friends are. My youth group is like a second home to me, in some ways it's more of a home than my house. At youth group i can be me completely and not be criticized at all.

I value the idea that everyone is equal.
